A Cellular Automata playground.

I think Cellular Automata are quite a good way of demonstrating Emergence… which has received mixed-reviews as a word (or even a concept), but which basically means “Patterns emerging from Enabling Constraints + Energy + Time”.

The patterns that emerge are fundamentally unpredictable due to the exponentially exploding number of possible futures. It’s counter-intuitive with something as simple as this, but it is true.
